Following a career in architectural and interior design, Steve made an early decision to move back to South Hams and practise art full-time. Working mostly from his home studio in Salcombe.
Steve favours the use of several different media, including watercolour, pen-and-wash, acrylic, oils, pastels and charcoal, although a lot of his work features traditional print-making techniques using 400 year-old 'Intaglio' techniques of metal plate etching / aquatint and 'drypoint' but also exploring contemporary means of non-toxic etching print production.
His professional training was in architecture and much of his subsequent development as a professional commercial designer in Central London meant mastering a broad range of modern creative tools. These architectural and creative skills are very visible in his work, giving it uniqueness and definition.
